The short version

Who we are
Yesteroll is made by Melbourne AI Lab (ABN 56 439 056 073), based in Melbourne VIC, Australia. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Melbourne AI Lab. This policy covers the Yesteroll iPhone app and this website. You can reach us at yesteroll@melailab.com.
What stays on your iPhone
Yesteroll works on the photo library on your iPhone. These things are stored only on your device and are never sent to us:
- Your photos and videos, their thumbnails, file names, dates and locations.
- Everything Yesteroll works out about them, such as similar shots, duplicates, blurry photos and documents.
- Your comments on photos, what you have reviewed, your Journal and stats, and your settings.
- Your count of free photo deletes for the day.
Your count of free video deletes is kept in your iCloud Keychain, so it carries over if you reinstall the app or use another iPhone with the same Apple Account. iCloud Keychain is run by Apple, and the count never reaches our servers.
To show place names for your photos, Yesteroll uses Apple's built-in geocoding service. Only the map coordinates are sent, and they go to Apple, not to us. Daily reminders are scheduled on your iPhone. They are off until you turn them on.

Analytics never include your photos or videos, thumbnails, file names, photo locations, album names, comments or anything you type. We don't collect the advertising identifier (IDFA), we turn off ad personalization and Google signals, and we don't link Yesteroll to any ad network. Yesteroll never asks to track you across other apps and websites, because it doesn't.
The app also downloads two small public settings files from our server when it starts: the minimum supported version and the free delete limits. Like any internet request, this reveals your IP address to the server, but we don't store it with anything about you.
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include, and we use it only to help you.
Services we use
- Google Firebase (Google LLC) runs our backend: Anonymous Authentication, Cloud Firestore and Cloud Functions for Pro, and Google Analytics for Firebase. Pro records are stored in Google Cloud's Melbourne region (australia-southeast2). Analytics data is processed by Google, including in the United States.
- Apple handles payments, subscriptions, refunds, iCloud Keychain, place-name lookups and the App Store. Our server asks Apple to confirm each purchase, and Apple tells our server about renewals and refunds. Apple never gives us your payment details or your Apple Account name or email.
- Cloudflare hosts this website.
These providers act on our behalf under their own terms and privacy commitments. We don't sell or rent personal information to anyone.
How long we keep it
- Anonymous ID and purchase history: for as long as they're needed to provide Pro, handle renewals, restores and refunds, and keep accurate records. You can ask us to delete your Pro records (see Your choices).
- Usage analytics: Google Analytics keeps event-level data for at most 14 months, then deletes it. Reports made from it contain only totals.
- Support emails: as long as we need to help you and keep a record of the conversation, and no longer than 2 years after our last message.
- Data on your iPhone: until you delete it or delete the app.
Your choices
- Turn off analytics: in Yesteroll, go to Settings > Privacy and turn off Share usage analytics. Collection stops right away, including on later launches.
- Photo access: you can give Yesteroll access to all your photos or only some, and change this any time in your iPhone's Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos.
- Delete the app: this removes everything stored by Yesteroll on your iPhone. The video delete count stays in your iCloud Keychain.
- Access, correction or deletion: email yesteroll@melailab.com with the subject "Privacy request" to ask us to delete your Pro records. Because we don't know who you are, include the Apple transaction or order ID from your Yesteroll purchase receipt so we can find your records. We'll reply within 30 days and explain what deletion means for restoring your purchases. Your purchases themselves stay with your Apple Account, and deleting our records doesn't cancel a subscription.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. If you're in the EU or UK, we rely on performing our contract with you for Pro, and on our legitimate interest in improving the app for analytics, which you can switch off. Wherever you live, you can ask us about your data, and you can complain to your local privacy regulator. In Australia, that's the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Security and transfers
Data sent between the app and our services is encrypted in transit. Only our server can write Pro records, and the app can only read its own. Some of our providers process data outside Australia, including in the United States. When that happens, we rely on their security and contractual protections.
This website
This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no third-party scripts or fonts. If you switch it to dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage and never sent to us. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, processes standard request data such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
Children
Yesteroll is rated 4+ on the App Store, but it's made for a general audience and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think a child has sent us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Yesteroll handles data, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect. For significant changes, we'll also let you know in the app where we can.
